"Paws & Plans" offers a comprehensive suite of features to streamline every aspect of your pet's healthcare journey. With an intuitive calendar system, scheduling veterinary appointments has never been easier. Additionally, the app provides medication reminders, ensuring your furry friend stays on track with their treatment plan. Accessing your pet's medical records is a breeze with "Paws & Plans," allowing for seamless communication with your veterinarian and ensuring continuity of care.
Project Goals:
Design a new, cohesive UX that aligns with BoxCast’s existing SaaS platform and compatible third-party audio mixing consoles
Simplify a complex technical process for a wide range of users
Launch a new product into a new market and drive adoption
Key user questions we set out to solve:
How can I manage numerous live audio feeds remotely with confidence and clarity?
How do I trust this fits into the rest of my broadcasting workflow?
Why use this product instead of something else on the market?
What We Conducted:
Product discovery & business analysis
Competitor research
User interviews
Surveys
Usability and prototype tests
What We Learned:
Opportunity: Most competitor audio console apps were buggy, difficult to use, and brand-specific
User diversity: Some were tech-savvy, others were unfamiliar with audio mixing
Access control: Users needed flexible permission levels—from full console access to mix isolation
Cognitive load: Users needed the right info at the right time, not all at once
Onboarding: Users needed a streamlined setup process, otherwise fatigue and complexity reduced adoption
These insights directly informed design decisions, including content hierarchy, feature placement, and the onboarding experience.
As the product developed, RemoteMix became the design foundation for the rest of the company’s product suite.
Design Iteration:
A new color palette, typography, and motion system
Primary actions front and center, with advanced features logically nested
Reusable modals, styles, and templates to streamline product development
Unified branding across BoxCast’s product line: the dashboard, live streaming, video editing, social media, and website management tools
What I Did:
Wrote all UX copy: tooltips, badges, menus, labels, etc.
Designed a streamlined companion app onboarding experience
Designed upsell pages and in-product marketing content
Flow conceptualization, testing, and design
Design support across the product
Collaborated cross-functionally with 6 teams
Design QA
Throughout the development cycle, we continually tested prototypes with users, gathered more data, and adjusted designs and flows based on research findings and stakeholder feedback.
In summary, "Paws & Plans" is more than just a mobile app – it's a game-changer in pet care management. By simplifying scheduling, providing medication reminders, and granting access to medical records, the app empowers pet owners to take control of their pet's health with ease and confidence.
